About Channel – the knowledge you may not know is that the channel is a long steel with a groove shaped section. Section steel with groove shape. Channel steel is a carbon structural steel for construction and machinery, and it is a kind of steel with complex section, and its section shape is groove. The raw material billet of channel steel is carbon bound steel or low alloy steel billet with carbon content less than 0.25%. The finished channel steel is delivered in hot-working forming, normalizing or hot rolling condition.
Channel steel is divided into ordinary channel steel and light channel steel. The specification of hot rolled ordinary channel steel is 5-40 ℃. The specification of hot rolled variable channel steel supplied by the supplier and the supplier is 6.5-30 ℃. According to the shape, channel steel can be divided into four types: cold-formed equal channel steel, cold-formed unequal channel steel, cold-formed inner rolled channel steel and cold-formed outer rolled channel steel. The channel steel is made of Q235A carbon steel.
Purpose: channel steel is mainly used for building structure, curtain wall engineering, mechanical equipment, vehicle manufacturing, fixed panel cabinet and other industrial structures. Channel steel is often used in combination with I-beam. In use, it is required to have good welding, riveting and comprehensive mechanical properties. According to the theory of steel structure, it should be the force on the channel flange, that is to say, the channel should stand, not lie down. What is the difference between I-beam and channel steel: both belong to profile, and are commonly used materials of pipe frame. Only the section shape is different, and the selection principle is slightly different. Due to the factors of inertia distance and the I-beam with a certain cross-section area, the stability of I-beam is better than that of channel steel. Generally, H-steel or I-beam is usually used for compression members or those with out of plane deformation. However, the processing and joint method of I-beam is more complicated than channel steel, So in the case of the structure stress is not complex or the stress of the member is not large, channel steel can be used. The specific selection shall be determined by the designer through the stress calculation of scheme comparison. In fact, most of the applications can be used in general, I-beam is more suitable and stable when the pure bending moment and the stress on both sides of the axis are relatively balanced. When the edge is reinforced and the surface is required to be beautiful, it is more appropriate to choose channel steel.
Appearance quality requirements: the allowable deviation of surface quality and geometry of channel steel is specified in the standard. Generally, it is required that the surface shall not be harmful in use, and there shall be no significant torsion. The allowable value of channel wave bending (sickle bend) and the value and allowable difference of relevant parameters of the section shape of channel steel of each specification shall be specified. The main manifestations of the channel steel geometry are: collapse angle, leg expansion and leg joint.
